Tech detects Hialeah Gardens school zone speeders, fines 11.5K not stopping with Miami-Dade school buses

HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. – In one day, 565 drivers ignored reduce-speed flashing lights in a high school zone and 340 in elementary and middle school zones.

That is what a recent test revealed in Hialeah Gardens, according to officials who warned the next violators will be getting citations.

Officials announced Altumint, a Maryland-based automated traffic enforcement company, is running the city’s visual technology and citation process.

Miami-Dade officials contracted BusPatrol America, a Virginia-based safety tech company, to enforce 668 school buses’ stop signs with $225 fines. According to the police’s most recent update on Instagram, the system has issued about 11,500 violations since the school year started.
