Locsanity celebrates locs, dreadlocks with new summer campaigns

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. ā€“ Locsanity, founded by Charmaine James, is drawing attention for its innovative approach to hair care during National Black Business Month.

The company, based in Coral Springs, Florida, is dedicated to promoting the beauty and cultural importance of locs and dreadlocks through a comprehensive line of plant-based products and educational resources.

James said she started Locsanity after transitioning from loose natural hair to locks and struggling to find suitable, natural hair care products.

ā€œI found locks to be a much lower-maintenance option, which allowed me to reclaim my time and simplify my routine,ā€ James told Local 10ā€²s Alex Finnie on Wednesday. ā€œWhen I couldnā€™t find the right products, I decided to create them myself.ā€

Locsanityā€™s product line includes items specifically designed for locks, but the brand also caters to loose naturals, men and children.

James said despite the significant male demographic, many beauty supply stores offer limited options for men, prompting Locsanity to develop a dedicated collection. Additionally, the company has created products aimed at children to help foster a positive relationship with their natural hair from an early age.

To demonstrate the simplicity and effectiveness of their products, Locsanity showcased a daily routine using their moisturizer, which can also function as a toner. The process involves a quick application of the product, allowing users to maintain their hair with minimal effort.

As part of National Black Business Month, Locsanity is also celebrating its recent achievement as the sole Florida-based recipient of FedExā€™s $20,000 Small Business Grant in 2024. James said the recognition highlights the brandā€™s impact and commitment to supporting natural hair care.

The company also announced the launch of three vibrant summer campaigns: Loc Girl Summer, Loc Bruh Summer, and Locs All Summer. The campaigns, which start on July 17 and run through September 15, celebrate identity, freedom, and natural beauty within the loc and dreadlock community.

The summer campaigns invite participants to showcase their unique hairstyles and cultural heritage by submitting photos and videos through the campaign websites: www.locgirlsummer.com, www.locbruhsummer.com and www.locsallsummer.com.

The three winners will receive Locsanity e-gift cards valued at $250, $75 and $25, respectively.

These campaigns aim to highlight the versatility of dreadlocks during the summer and encourage individuals to embrace and celebrate their natural beauty.
