Little Havana peeping Tom turns self in after wife confronts him, police say

MIAMI – Miami police announced the arrest of a man Wednesday who they said is accused of touching himself while peering into a home where a young girl was changing clothes and two other children were present.

Alexander Perez Piloto, 38, of Hialeah, was taken into custody after authorities issued a safety alert about the disturbing incident, which was captured on surveillance video last week in Little Havana.

According to investigators, the video shows Perez Piloto peering through the window of a home near Southwest 10th Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 21.

Police said he was seen touching his penis while standing outside a fourplex where a 6-year-old girl and two other children — 8 and 10-year-old boys, along with a 30-year-old woman — were inside.

The girl’s father, Jose Larrynaga, who was not home at the time, said he learned of the incident when a friend called to warn him that someone might be trying to steal his tools. Larrynaga checked his security cameras and saw the disturbing scene unfold on his phone.

“I feel happy about the arrest and I hope the law gives him what he deserves,” Larrynaga told Local 10 News on Wednesday.

According to his arrest report, Perez Piloto told authorities he went to the Hialeah Police Department after his wife saw a video of him on the news related to the incident. He explained that while working as a Lyft driver, he had stopped to urinate in a dark residential area at that time, the report stated.

Pilot told detectives he was trying to be discreet by looking around to ensure no one saw him, authorities said.

When a light turned on, he said he moved to the back of the building, sat on a chair and continued urinating because someone had questioned him about his presence. He responded by saying he lived there, investigators said.

After he had finished urinating, police said Perez Pilot walked back to his car and left the scene. He later admitted he knew he was wrong for entering the property, according to police.

Larrynaga thought otherwise.

“He’s not urinating,” Larrynaga told Local 10′s Liane Morejon when talking about the surveillance video. “He’s clearly touching himself.”

He also made a confession that was redacted in the publicly-released report after being taken into custody.

Jail records show Perez Piloto is facing four counts of voyeurism and one separate charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer set a $9,500 bond for Perez Piloto, a Cuban national, during his court appearance Wednesday. He was also placed on house arrest with a GPS monitor and ordered to stay away from the victims.
