BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly set his ex-girlfriend’s car on fire to seek revenge just months after they broke up.

Jason Jarrod Williams, 38, of West Park, is facing one count of second-degree arson, according to his arrest report.

Deputies said the victim’s daughter witnessed the incident while she was sitting on the couch inside her home in Hallandale Beach, where she saw Williams “pouring what appeared to be a liquid accelerant from a hand-held container onto her mother’s flaming vehicle, causing the existing flames to increase.”

The witness identified Williams as her mother’s ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her siblings, according to investigators.

Deputies said the witness reported seeing Williams flee the scene in his gray Honda Accord, heading northbound on Northwest Fifth Terrace and Third Court.

The victim told authorities she and Williams ended their relationship several months ago and had been involved in several domestic disputes, resulting in “numerous warrants for his arrest,” the report stated.

She also said that Williams’ violent behavior had forced her to relocate to a family member’s home near the 500 block of Northwest Third Court, authorities said.

According to deputies, Williams and the victim argued on Monday about the end of their relationship, which she believes prompted him to set her car on fire.

Authorities confirmed that the car was totaled in the incident, with damages estimated at $20,000.

Surveillance video showed Williams’ car entering Hallandale Beach approximately 21 minutes before the victim’s car was set on fire, according to the report.

Deputies said they located Williams near the 2300 block of Southwest 20th Street, where he was taken into custody.

Jail records indicate Williams is being held at the Broward Main Jail on a $50,000 bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
