BIG PINE KEY, Fla. – A woman visiting the Florida Keys from out-of-state with her husband to meet with a “possible employer” landed in jail after downing half a bottle of liquor in five minutes, crashing into a combination bar-liquor store and then fighting with sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.
Her husband wound up in jail, too.

According to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Kimberly Marie Robins, 47, and Charles Fronefield Lambert, 41, both of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, were in Big Pine Key Monday morning to meet with that employer.
The report states that Lambert told deputies that they drove to Coconuts Bar & Liquor Store, located at 30535 Overseas Highway, and Robins “went into the bar, purchased a bottle of Crown Royal and drank approximately half of the bottle in about (five) minutes,” leading to a spat over her drinking.
At some point, deputies said Lambert hit Robins. Deputies said Robins got in their pickup truck to “get away” from him, “then drove the truck into the side of the building, causing damage,” just after 7:30 a.m.
MCSO Deputy Brandon Ware Rogers wrote in the report that after he arrived at the scene, “The truck’s front airbags were deployed, the keys (were) still in the ignition, with the transmission still in drive.”
“I asked Kimberly if she was OK and able to step out of the vehicle. Kimberly stated she was fine and exited the truck,” the deputy wrote.
Deputies said as Robins got out, they could smell a “strong odor of alcohol.”
“Kimberly had an unsteady stance and spoke with a slowed, slurred speech,” the report states.
While waiting for medics to check her for injuries, Robins “would sway back and forth, losing her footing and falling onto the floor,” deputies said.
After being medically cleared, deputies said Robins failed a battery of field sobriety tests and they took her to the agency’s Key West jail facility to conduct a breathalyzer test.
That’s when authorities said things went further south.
Another deputy said that “during the 20-minute observation period, Kimberly spat on his face and then fell out of the chair and onto the floor.”
“Kimberly then grabbed his leg and pants and would not let go after (he) gave multiple verbal commands to do so,” the report states. The deputy had to use “mechanical compliance” to “break free” from Robins, the report states.
Robins is facing felony charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence, along with two misdemeanor DUI charges.
Lambert is facing a misdemeanor battery charge.
Both remained in MCSO’s Key West jail pending early-September arraignment hearings, online records show.
