Cops say man found dead in truck on Palmetto Expressway was shot: ‘We are treating it as a homicide’

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police released new information Tuesday morning on a death investigation on the Palmetto Expressway in Hialeah the day prior.

On Monday, state troopers found a man dead inside a silver pickup truck along the highway near Northwest 103rd Street just after noon; the Florida Highway Patrol turned the investigation over to Hialeah police.

Police said Tuesday morning that investigators believe the man may have been murdered.

“This was a shooting and we are treating it as a homicide,” a Hialeah Police Department spokesperson told Local 10 News in an email.

Video footage from Sky 10 on Monday showed the area around the truck cordoned off with police tape and a yellow tarp covering a portion of the pickup’s windows.

Video taken by a Local 10 News photojournalist showed evidence markers placed on the side of the highway.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man or released information about his age. They also have not said whether they’ve identified any suspects or a possible motive.

Hialeah police were “asking for any witnesses with information on this incident” to contact them at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
