‘Criminal investigation’ underway after man found dead in truck on Palmetto Expressway

Hialeah police seeking witnesses in ‘active’ case

HIALEAH, Fla. – An “active criminal investigation” was underway Monday afternoon after state troopers found a man dead in a truck parked along the Palmetto Expressway in Hialeah, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP Lt. Alex Camacho said troopers responded “to a call of a suspicious silver Ford pickup truck parked on the shoulder” in the northbound lanes near the Northwest 103rd Street exit just after noon.

Camacho said troopers found a man dead inside of the vehicle after arriving. Video footage from Sky 10 showed a portion of the highway cordoned off with police tape and a yellow tarp covering a portion of the pickup’s windows.

Video taken by a Local 10 News photojournalist showed evidence markers placed on the side of the highway.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man or stated whether they’ve determined a possible cause of death.

Hialeah police have now taken over the investigation, Camacho said.

A spokesperson for the Hialeah Police Department said the agency was “asking for any witnesses with information on this incident” to contact them at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
