Battalion Chief Michael Kane, a Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesperson, said the leak was ā€œin or nearā€ the schoolā€™s cafeteria.

He said the person taken to the hospital, for ā€œevaluation,ā€ was a school employee.

No one else was injured or sickened. Units were clearing the scene at around 9:30 a.m., he said.

A Broward County Public Schools spokesperson said staff evacuated the school briefly as a ā€œprecaution,ā€ but resumed normal activities after ā€œa thorough inspectionā€ which led the school to be ā€œdeemed safe for students and staff to return to their classrooms.ā€
