Search for killer who ambushed 18-year-old man in Broward driveway continues

Murder victim had just become a father 6 months ago, relatives say

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The search for a killer continued Sunday hours after the murder of an 18-year-old man in Broward County.

The shooter ambushed Ammon Watson, who was the father of a 6-month-old boy, shortly before 11:55 a.m., Saturday, in front of his house in Oakland Park. Watson was arriving home from a store with his grandmother. She walked inside.

“The shooter ran up to the victim while he was in a driveway,” Miranda Grossman, a spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, wrote in a statement distributed on Sunday.

The shooter ran away. Oakland Park Fire Rescue personnel declared Watson dead near Northwest 28 Street and 22 Terrace.

“Deputies quickly established a perimeter and canvassed the area,” Grossman wrote.
