MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and the driver of a Toyota Camry were injured during a crash early Saturday morning in Miami-Dade County’s Golden Glades area.

According to Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for FHP, the driver of the Toyota Camry, “lost control” while traveling southbound on Interstate 95, hydroplaned on the wet roadway, and collided with a parked FHP Dodge Challenger.

SafetyVid, which collects public camera feeds, shared the aerial view of the crash recorded by a public surveillance camera over I-95.

Camacho reported the FHP trooper was protecting construction workers on the southbound I-95 express lanes in the area of the Golden Glades Interchange.

“The express lanes were closed for an active construction work zone and the Trooper’s vehicle was strategically positioned to ensure the safety of the workers,” Camacho wrote in a statement.

Fire rescue personnel took the injured to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries. Camacho reported the investigation was ongoing Saturday afternoon.
