HIALEAH, Fla. – A woman is dead after a wrong-way crash that occurred Friday morning on the Palmetto Expressway in Hialeah, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 154th Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman, who was driving a white Hyundai sedan, was traveling south in the northbound lanes when she crashed her car into a silver Toyota.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and authorities have not yet said why the Hyundai driver was driving the wrong way on the highway.
The identities of both drivers have not been released.
