Mom of dead twins appears in Miami-Dade court, now charged with 2 counts of manslaughter

MIAMI – A mother accused of killing her 3-year-old twins appeared in Miami-Dade court Friday.

Shirlene Alcime, 43, was formally charged with aggravated manslaughter in the deaths of Milendhet and Milendhere Napoleon-Cadet.

It marked the first time she has physically been in court since their deaths.

In February, police say Alcime jumped off an overpass near the Golden Glades interchange and when police arrived, they found the twins in a car, foaming at the mouth.

The children were later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police have not yet released specifics on the cause of death.

Alcime, of North Miami Beach, spent months recovering from the jump. She pleaded not guilty in court Friday.
