MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Several South Florida lawmakers are outraged after a former high ranking leader of the communists party was recently allowed to migrate to the Unites States.
U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez, R-Florida, was one of five lawmakers who signed a letter addressed to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in which they express “profound disgust regarding reports that a high-level, longtime Cuban communist party operative managed to gain the special privilege of U.S. Entry.”
The person they’re referring to is Manuel Menéndez Castellanos, who worked personally with Fidel Castro.
Aside from the emotional effect, Gimenez and fellow congresspersons Mario Díaz-Balart and María Elvira Salazar, as well as Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, question the legality of his arrival.
Marti Noticias reports Castellanos arrived as part of the Cuban reunification parole program.
The letter states immigrants affiliated with the communist party are inadmissible.
