Hialeah PD: Officers fatally shoot suspect after 3 stabbed at home

1 victim also died at the scene, police confirm

HIALEAH, Fla. ā€“ Three females were stabbed in Hialeah early Wednesday morning before the suspect was shot and killed by police, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News.

According to Hialeah police Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, officers responded to a home on the corner of West 43rd Place and West Fifth Court around 4:25 a.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

ā€œAs officers arrived, they were met by one victim, who appeared to be stabbed outside of the home,ā€ Rodriguez said in an email to Local 10. ā€œInside of the home were two additional stabbing victims, as well as an armed suspect.ā€

According to Rodriguez, officers were rending aid to the victims when a confrontation ensued between the suspect and officers.

The sound of multiple gunshots being fired can be heard in a video taken outside the home as officers were in the doorway of the house.

Rodriguez confirmed that officers were forced to discharge their guns and that the male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said one of the stabbing victims was also pronounced dead at the scene and the other two victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospitalā€™s Ryder Trauma Center. Their conditions have not yet been released.

Local 10 News reporter Annaliese Garcia arrived in the area later in the morning as crime scene investigators were spotted at the scene.

Police were also seen going inside the home.

Among those stabbed was Made Gonzalez. Neighbors say she lived at the home with her son, daughter and mother.

A woman who asked not to be identified and lives in a unit across from where the incident occurred described the moment she woke up to screams with one of the victims knocking on her door for help.

ā€œIt was three ladies and all of them were screaming, like asking to call the police,ā€ she said. ā€œI saw that she had more than seven stabs -- one on her shoulder and the other one on her neck -- and she started asking for water and help.ā€

ā€œI just heard the police telling him to put the knife down,ā€ the woman said. ā€œThey said, ā€˜Let me see your hands,ā€™ but he refused, and thatā€™s when I heard the gunshots.ā€

A Local 10 News crew was near the crime scene around 4 p.m. when a medical examiner removed one of the victimsā€™ bodies for investigation.

Rodriguez said the police shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which is the Hialeah Police Departmentā€™s protocol.

The identities of the suspect and two other victims have not yet been released, nor has a motive for the attack.
