Police: Man bleeding from head arrested at Miami airport, along with companion, after refusing to get off plane

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday at Miami International Airport after boarding an American Airlines flight that was heading to Las Vegas, authorities confirmed.

According to the suspects’ arrest reports, flight staff noticed that Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, of Las Vegas, was bleeding from his forehead and had a bloody bandage around his wound.

Miami-Dade police said Hernandez-Garnier was asked to clean up the blood and replace his bandages, but he said he did not have any clean bandages.

According to the reports, crew members then asked him multiple times to deboard the plane as they were concerned about his medical condition as well as body fluid contamination.

Police said Hernandez-Garnier and his travel companion, Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, also of Las Vegas, refused to leave, saying “if they could not fly, no one else can either.”

According to the arrest reports, police officers at the airport responded to the situation and again asked Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola to leave, but they once again refused.

Loyola posted a video of the incident on TikTok and is heard yelling that Hernandez-Garnier had just had surgery.

Police said they were warned that they would be arrested for trespassing after a warning, but they still would not leave the plane.

“After a brief moment of resisting to be handcuffed, they were subsequently placed under arrest,” the reports stated.

According to police, because of the couple’s actions, all other passengers were forced to deboard as well, causing the flight to be delayed.

Both suspects were taken to Jackson West to be evaluated for the bleeding before being transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, authorities said.

They both face charges of trespassing after a warning and resisting an officer without violence.

The arrest reports did not state the cause of the bleeding for either defendant.
