Man, 19, booked into jail after killing 2 in central Broward crash, deputies say

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old has officially been booked into jail, facing serious charges after a deadly crash near Fort Lauderdale.

Deputies said Gavin Dorvil, of Lauderdale Lakes, was driving a white Tesla when he T-boned a Dodge Durango on Aug. 11 off Northwest Sixth Street near the unincorporated Washington Park and Boulevard Gardens areas.

Both the driver, Lisa Jackson, and the passenger, Geraldine Francis, were killed, and a child was left critically injured. The impact of the crash also caused another car to flip.

Several witnesses believe the Tesla was being chased by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies. BSO officials said they’re still investigating whether deputies were pursuing him.

Dorvil was also arrested by Davie police a few weeks prior.

According to an arrest report, he ran from a traffic stop, and when police caught him, they found a stolen gun stuffed “between his buttock cheeks.”

The teen is now facing two counts of vehicular homicide and reckless driving causing serious injury.
