Surveillance video shows pet grooming company employee abusing dog in Miami-Dade

HIALEAH, Fla. – Surveillance video from a Nest camera shows a man wearing a T-shirt with the name of a pet grooming company kicking a dog on Monday in the hallway of an apartment building in Miami-Dade County.

Residents of the Jade Winds community, at 1770 NE 191 St., in Miami-Dade’s Ojus area, where the abuse happened said they couldn’t recognize the dog that appeared on the surveillance video.

Instagram users bombarded the Deluxe Mobile Pet Grooming page with messages. The Hialeah-based company released an apologetic statement in Spanish promising to take “serious” measures against the employee.

A man wearing scrubs outside of the house in Hialeah where the company was registered with the state refused to talk to Local 10 News Saturday about the video. A covered van was parked on the side.

In Florida, it is illegal to “unnecessarily” torment “any animal in a cruel or inhumane manner.” A charge of animal cruelty is a misdemeanor of the first degree punishable with prison or a fine or both.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
