Police: 1 dead, 3 injured during street shooting in Fort Lauderdale

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives helps investigate fatal shooting

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man died and three men were injured during a street shooting early Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

There was a black car riddled with bullets in the area of West Cypress Creek Road, near Powerline Road and North Andrews Avenue.

According to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, police officers and fire rescue personnel responded at about 5:05 a.m.

“This shooting occurred in the roadway while the victims were driving in the area,” Adamson wrote in a statement.

Fire rescue personnel found four victims with life-threatening injuries and took them to the Broward Health Medical Center. According to Adamson, a man who was hospitalized later died.

“The other three victims remain hospitalized,” Adamson wrote in a statement to update her initial report of three injuries, as the investigation was ongoing.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the crime scene.

Police officers closed West Cypress Creek Road between Powerline Road and North Andrews Avenue and asked drivers to use Commercial Boulevard and West McNab Road instead.
