Missing child alert helps deputies find Fort Lauderdale boy in Orange County

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a missing child alert Friday afternoon after a five-year-old boy vanished in Broward County. Deputies in Orange County found him hours later.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Cameron Dixon vanished Friday near Virginia S. Young Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale. He was wearing a blue shirt and black shorts.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the boy was likely with Leon Dixon, a relative who didn’t have permission to be with him and drives a 2019, gray Chevrolet Cruze, with Florida tag AJ51GI.
