Brickell residents alarmed by man they say asks to touch feet

MIAMI – The normally vibrant and bustling streets of Miami’s Brickell neighborhood have taken on an uneasy vibe in recent days after residents claim a man on a scooter has been repeatedly harassing women in the area, asking them disturbing questions about their feet.

Megan Nyvold, a Brickell resident of more than four years, claims she had a particularly unsettling encounter last Friday around lunchtime.

While she was near the valet area of her building, Nyvold said a young man on a scooter began circling the vicinity, making increasingly bizarre requests.

“He was asking really odd questions like, ‘Can I see your feet? Can I touch your feet?’” she said.

As the man continued to circle and repeat his unsettling questions, Nyvold decided to record the encounter.

In the video, the man can be heard repeatedly saying the word “feet.”

“I actually got my camera out and got the video,” Nyvold told Local 10′s Liane Morejon. “He’s obviously not really remorseful in his actions so that’s definitely scary.”

Concerned and seeking advice, Nyvold posted the footage to a Facebook group for Brickell residents, where she discovered that she was not alone.

Numerous women commented that they too had encountered the same man, with some sharing that the harassment had escalated to unwanted physical contact. The comments revealed that the man had been frequenting not just Brickell, but also surrounding areas, for weeks, raising alarm among residents.

The community is now calling for action. Many residents, including Nyvold, are urging the Miami Police Department to intervene before the situation escalates.

“Hopefully, it’s taken seriously,” said Nyvold.

MPD told Local 10 News they are investigating the situation and have not determined if a crime was committed.

They have also not disclosed any information on the man’s age or identity.
