An undercover police officer reported Leondre Walker was a suspect, there was a foot chase, and Walker reached into his waistband, retrieved a Taurus G2C with an extended magazine, and tossed it.

According to an arrest warrant, the Taurus G2C had a live round in the chamber and the extended magazine had 21 live rounds. Walker, 20, was not a stranger to law enforcement.

The undercover detective described Walker as a “documented” gang member. Last year, he made headlines after a pursuit in a stolen Jeep ended with a crash on Aug. 31 in Broward County. The case was later dropped.

Detectives took a photo of Leondre Walker's cell phone and noticed his screensaver and his tattoo were connected to a slain man, records show. (MPD WARRANT)

When police officers arrested Walker on April 27 in Miami, they reported seizing Walker’s iPhone to search it after getting a warrant.

Detectives learned Walker was grieving the death of Jeremiah Rollers with a “MIAHWAY” tattoo on his arm and an iPhone screensaver photo of him holding a weapon. It had the “M4M” label, for “Murder 4 Miah.”

Miami-Dade prosecutors charged Walker with possession of a firearm by a delinquent, carrying a concealed firearm, and resisting an officer without violence to his person.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch sentenced Walker on June 11 to a 12-month probation. According to the Florida Department of Correction, it was set to end on June 10, 2025.

While searching Walker’s cell phone, detectives reported finding a message with the stolen identification data of a man in Nevada, and another with the stolen ID data of a Miami Gardens man.

Miami-Dade County inmate records show correctional officers booked Walker shortly after 10:45 a.m., on Wednesday, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Walker was arrested on two counts of fraudulent use or possession of personal ID, one count of unlawful use of a communications divide, and two counts of unlawful possession of four or fewer identifications.

Miami undercover detectives who are members of the gang intelligence unit worked on the case with Miami-Dade Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Hernandez-Garcia, a member of the gang strike force.

The court set Walker’s bond review for 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, and the arraignment at 9 a.m., on Sept. 3. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Zachary N. James was set to preside over the case.
