Authorities said Yungman, then 25, met the woman while she was on vacation in Paris in April 2018 and they remained in contact, eventually planning a trip to Ireland, where she worked.
U.S. District Court documents obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday state that on the night of June 4, 2018, Yungman raped the woman, then 19, twice at a Dublin Airbnb.
Those documents state that the victim reported what happened to Irish police two days later and officers arrested Yungman as he attempted to board a flight at Dublin Airport.
Authorities allege that the woman showed police a WhatsApp message in which Yungman promised that “nothing like this will ever happen again.”
Yungman claimed in two police interviews that the sex was consensual and he would later be released, but court documents state that on Feb. 13, 2020, the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions directed that he should be charged with rape.
If convicted under Irish law, Yungman could spend the rest of his life in prison, the court documents state.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Yungman, born in Buenos Aires, has had a few minor roles in television and film and has acted in stage shows.
A press montage posted to his YouTube channel shows multiple interviews with Local 10 News in the late 2000s after he won the “Cirque Dreams” contest as a 16-year-old student at Cypress Bay High School.
He remained in the Broward Main Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
