BSO: Diver found dead in water in Lauderdale-by-the Sea

LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating after they say a diver was found dead in the ocean in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

According to BSO spokesman Carey Codd, someone called 911 shortly before 11 p.m. Friday to report a possible drowning in the area of 100 Palm Avenue.

Codd said deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found a diver dead in the ocean.

BSO’s Dive Team also responded to the area and recovered the man’s body.

Codd said the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, however foul play is not suspected.

The diver’s identity has not yet been released.
