Mom to Mom: Baby Kaden goes home

Born at 23 weeks, South Florida organization helped provide support for the family during his time in the NICU

A first-time mother whose story was shared earlier in this weekā€™s Mom to Mom segment, is celebrating some good news this Friday.

Local 10ā€²s Nicole Perez spoke to 33-year-old Jade Quatro, who is now able to take her four-and-a-half-month-old baby boy Kaden home.

He was born at 23 weeks.

Kadenā€™s due date was June 30, but he was born on March 9 at Holtz Childrenā€™s Hospital in Miami-Dade County.

Jade and her husband live in North Carolina but were in Aruba for their ā€œBaby Moonā€ when Jade started to have complications.

Doctors told Jade and her husband this only happens in three percent of pregnancies.

Her family is anxiously waiting to meet him.

The nurses told Jade that Little Kaden is a miracle. He has not required any surgeries while in the NICU and is now weighing nine pounds.

ā€œItā€™s unbelievable. Itā€™s a dream come true,ā€ said Kevin Quatro.

ā€œItā€™s mind-blowing, Itā€™s still surreal. Honestly that Iā€™m not pregnant with him. But to see how far heā€™s come. Heā€™s a completely different baby, but the strongest tiniest human Iā€™ve ever seen,ā€ said Jade Quatro.

During her time in the hospital, Jade and her husband were introduced to ICU Baby.

ā€œICU Baby is an organization that unites NICU families and offers them financial, emotional and informational support so that they can thrive in the NICU,ā€ said Elizabeth Simonton, Executive Director, ICU Baby.

The non-profit organization helps families in five different South Florida hospitals.

ICU Baby helps about 1,000 families a year but would like to do more.
