Police: Homestead girl, 8, found in Louisiana, reunited with dad

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – An 8-year-old girl who was reported missing from Homestead this week has been found in Lafayette, Louisiana, police confirmed Saturday afternoon.

Homestead police said Liah Meza was found safe and has been reunited with her father.

The good news comes a day after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert for Liah.

According to police, Liah had last been seen near the 40th block of Northwest First Avenue in Homestead.

Authorities at the time said Liah might have been in the company of Yailen Roche, who was last seen wearing a grey tank top, black shorts, and grey sneakers, and Geovany Maresma-Burcet, who was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt and black shorts.

Police did not immediately confirm whether Roche and Maresma-Burcet were with Liah when she was found or whether any arrests had been made.
