KEY WEST, Fla. ā A firefighter was arrested for driving under the influence after a dramatic high-speed crash in Key West late Wednesday night, police confirmed Thursday.
According to jail records, 21-year-old Samuel Adym Martin is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a separate moving traffic violation.

Authorities said the crash occurred when a vehicle, reportedly traveling at a high speed, reached the end of South Roosevelt Boulevard, went airborne, and crashed into the water.
Key West police said officers responded swiftly to the scene, where Martin and his passenger were able to exit the submerged vehicle safely.
Jail records list Martin as a āKey West firefighter,ā but authorities told Local 10 News he is not recognized as a firefighter in South Florida.
A spokesperson for the Key West Police Department also told Local 10 News that Martin claimed to be a firefighter who recently moved to Key West from Texas but did not disclose which fire department he worked for.
Authorities said both individuals were checked by rescue personnel and cleared of any injuries.
Police said Martin was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence. They did not disclose how fast he was going at the time of the crash.

Court records show Martin is expected to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Aug 17.
