MIAMI – Miami police arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday after they said he reacted to fatherly advice urging him to “change his life” by hitting his dad with a fan.
Kemuel Emmanuel is now facing a potentially life-changing felony charge.

According to a Miami Police Department arrest report, the incident happened May 5 at Emmanuel’s apartment in the 400 block of Northeast 38th Street in the city’s Upper East Side neighborhood, near the Miami Design District.
Police said Emmanuel’s father — a senior citizen — had, in addition to telling his son, then 29, to “change his life,” encouraged him to “do better for himself.”
After becoming “upset” and threatening to hit his father, police said Emmanuel “grabbed a fan that was nearby and threw it at his right foot, striking his toe.”
Authorities said Emmanuel fled before police arrived. MPD’s Domestic Violence Apprehension Team located and arrested him at around noon Tuesday.
Online jail records listed him as being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Wednesday, facing a charge of battery on a person 65 or older.
His bond had not yet been set, those records show.
