MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā A 58-year-old man was arrested Monday after Miami-Dade police said he stole multiple checks from the restaurant where he worked as a cook and cashed in more than $6,000.
Luis Alberto Milian, of Miami, faces charges of grand theft, organized scheme to defraud and uttering a forged instrument/check.

According to his arrest report, the victim reported to police that only July 26, Milian did not show up to work at the cafĆ©, located at 1657 NW 79th Ave. in Doral, and didnāt answer his phone when his boss called multiple times.
The victim told detectives that he was inside his office at the business on Aug. 1 and grabbed his business checkbook that he kept in a desk drawer when he discovered that several checks were missing.
According to the report, the victim immediately went to the bank to inquire about the missing checks, at which time he discovered that Milian had fraudulently cashed all of the checks, but one.
The checks were cashed in for a total amount of $6,300, authorities said.
Police said the other check was cashed by a man identified as Ruben Marin, 60, who remains at large.
According to the report, the victim obtained copies of the checks and contacted police.
Police said investigators discovered that the checks were cashed at a check cashing store called Presidente Check Cashing.
Detectives obtained surveillance video from the business showing both suspects cashing the checks, the report states.
Milian, who is a Cuban citizen, was arrested at his home Monday.
Police said he provided them with a written confession.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Milian was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
