According to the suspectās arrest report, the victim had just parked his car when he was approached by two men who had guns.
Police said one of the robbers, later identified as Diosvany Jimenez, 52, of Miami, removed the victimās fanny pack from around his shoulder while the other robber pointed a gun to the victimās head.
The two robbers then got into a white SUV and fled south on West First Avenue, authorities said.
A witness immediately called 911.
According to the arrest report, the victim told detectives that prior to the robbery, he had made a large cash deposit at a Bank of America on Hialeah Drive and then went to a convenience store on East First Avenue.
Detectives also interviewed a witness who saw the entire robbery while sitting on her balcony.
Police said she took a photo of the suspect vehicleās license plate, which showed that it had not been registered since 2013 and was not assigned to the white GMC Arcadia that it was affixed to.
According to the report, detectives later learned that the SUV is regularly driven by Jimenez, who matched the physical characteristics described by the victim and one of the witnesses.
Police said surveillance video from the convenience store shows that the victim was being followed by a newer model, black Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV.
Authorities said the GMC then pulled into the parking lot and one of the people inside the Mercedes got into the GMC.
The two people inside the GMC then continued to follow the victim as he drove off, police said.
According to the arrest report, the robbery was also captured on surveillance video and shows that the suspects blocked in the victimās car.
Police said cellphone data confirmed Jimenezās involvement in the robbery.
He was arrested Monday on a charge of armed robbery.
As of Tuesday morning, Jimenez, who is a Cuban citizen, was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
Anyone with information about the second robberās identity is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
