MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A good Samaritan made a surprising discovery on a South Florida beach Monday morning.
Samuel Briggs II, Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Miami Sector, confirmed that Tropical Storm Debby, which reached Florida’s Gulf Coast early Monday as a hurricane, washed 25 packages of cocaine, totaling 70 pounds, onto a beach in the Florida Keys.

Briggs said the drugs were found by a good Samaritan, who alerted authorities.
Authorities said U.S. Border Patrol agents seized the cocaine, which Briggs confirmed has a street value of over $1 million.
Briggs did not disclose the name of the beach where the drugs were discovered, and the origin of the cocaine remains unclear at this time.
