Police: Woman’s body found after she jumped into Miami River

MIAMI – A 29-year-old woman who vanished after a man reported she had jumped into the Miami River early Sunday morning in downtown was found dead, authorities confirmed Sunday night.

She was identified Monday morning as Alacyia Brandon.

According to Miami Police Officer Michael Vega, Brandon jumped into the water at about 2:24 a.m. Sunday near 315 Biscayne Blvd.

She was reported missing and her body was eventually discovered in the bay behind the Kaseya Center around 5 p.m.

According to Lt. Pete Sanchez, of Miami Fire Rescue, a security guard witnessed Brandon jumping into the river.

The U.S. Coast Guard, MFR and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue participated in the search for Brandon.
