3 arrested after shots fired during robbery outside Flanigan’s in Miramar

Police said Keenan Clark was seen wearing a $20K gold chain on social media that he allegedly stole during the robbery

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Three individuals were arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred outside of a popular restaurant earlier this month.

According to authorities, two victims were robbed at gunpoint while leaving the Flanigan’s restaurant on Miramar Parkway and Red Road on July 11.

It happened just before 1 a.m. when the restaurant normally closes.

Police said 36-year-old Derricka Chantel Johnson, 21-year-old Keenan Clark and 18-year-old Byron Lee Williams took some of the victims’ belongings, that included a $20,000 gold chain before those victims then shot at them, with the suspects returning fire.

According to Miramar police, the suspects were captured on surveillance video shopping at convenience stores in Miami Gardens, which played a key role in solving the case.

Police said a Broward Crime Stoppers tip led to identifying Johnson as a suspect in the case.

Police also revealed that Clark was seen on social media flaunting the stolen gold chain, which helped the victims recognize it as theirs.

One of the victims, who spoke to Local 10 News back in mid-July, said the primary concern of the couple was their safety rather than the stolen items.

“We’re just blessed to be here,” said the male victim. “It’s not about the items they took... it’s about being able to wake up the next day.”

Authorities said no injuries were reported. The restaurant is newer, opening just last year.

Jail records show all three suspects face two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Johnson also faces an additional charge of throwing or shooting a missile into a building or vehicle, while Williams faces additional charges of third-degree grand theft and violation of probation.

As of Tuesday, Johnson is being held without bond at the Broward Sheriff’s Office North Broward Bureau jail facility. Clark and Williams are being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Miramar police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
