Heavily armed Broward deputies surround apartment building after shooting, man surrenders

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Deputies armed with rifles and wearing bullet vests responded to a report of a shooting on Sunday afternoon in Broward County. A witness shared a video showing a man surrendering with his arms up.

Deputies in military-like gear with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Unit surrounded a building, shortly after 2 p.m. in Dania Beach. Neighbors said there had been problems there before.

The residents of the two-story apartment building with four rental units waited outside at Southwest Second Avenue and Fifth Street. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel also responded.

Deputies closed the area to traffic. A video shows an ambulance left with someone injured.

BSO confirmed that a man was injured in the shooting and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Deputies said the suspect and victim are known to each other, however authorities did not immediately release the suspect’s name or an apparent motive.
