DAVIE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections released Jordan Nevarez in February and he was already back behind bars.
Records show police officers arrested Nevarez, 27, of Pembroke Pines, on Friday, in Davie. Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked the convicted felon at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale.

Records also show Nevarez is a habitual felony offender with a history of violence. According to the FDOC, Nevarez has six convictions in Broward County — and five stem from cases in 2022.
Records show Officer Nicholas Correa arrested Nevarez on March 11, 2022, in Davie, after he wielded a knife while threatening strangers at Shenandoah Park in Davie. His threats allegedly included drinking the blood of his victims with “some jerk seasoning on them because they have no flavor.”
According to Correa’s report on the case of disorderly conduct and corruption by heat against a public servant, Nevarez also shouted, “I am going to take a bomb to your police station and blow it up” and “I have been to jail; I am not sacred. I will kill them all.”
In another case, on May 30, 2022, a woman he had known for years “sustained a dislocated hip and several bruises on her body,” Davie Detective Zev Spiller wrote in a report after Nevarez picked her up, slammed her to the ground — causing her to be “incapacitated” — and stole her Ford Escape.
Records show Assistant State Attorney Nahum Joseph accused Nevarez on June 2, 2022, of violating the conditions of his trial release and ordered him held without bond.
Nevarez was also a suspect after a woman turned up dead at Florence C. Hardy Park in Fort Lauderdale after they met at a rehab in Sunrise. He allegedly admitted he didn’t care enough about the “white girl” to rush her to the hospital after she used drugs in a friend’s car.
In 2016, Nevarez was convicted of an aggravated assault on Dec. 13, 2014. The FDOC released him on March 1, 2017. Attorney Wayne Emanuel Ramelize, his Broward County public defender, alleged that his behavior all stemmed from a 2017 head injury, according to a request for leniency.
“He was struck on the back of the head with a mace can by a corrections officer,” Ramelize wrote on April 19, 2023. “This injury, according to his parents, altered the course of his life, traumatizing him mentally, physically, and emotionally, causing long-lasting cognitive difficulties.”
Court records show Broward County Circuit Judge Ernest Kollra issued a warrant for Nevarez’s arrest on May 14 for a probation violation after he left the Evolutions Residential Program on April 22.
“He did not report to probation or call any probation officer after being discharged. The offender is believed to be living in Davie ... since his parents picked him up from Evolutions,” Officer Kevin Cavalli wrote, according to a report.
Nevarez was denied bond and remained at the main jail Saturday afternoon.
