PINECREST, Fla. – Authorities have released 911 call recordings from the frantic moment an alleged hitman showed up at the Pinecrest home of developer Sergio Pino’s estranged wife.
Pino, 67, took his own life amid a July 16 FBI raid on his home in Coral Gables’ exclusive Cocoplum neighborhood. Authorities said it was all part of a probe into the murder-for-hire plot targeting Tatiana Pino.
The 911 calls, from June, were placed by the Pinos’ adult daughter, Alessandra. She called for help after authorities said a gunman showed up to the home to kill Tatiana Pino, but found her daughter instead.
“Please, someone with a gun is here,” Alessandra Pino says in the recording. “There’s a gun, there’s a guy with a gun, please.”
A dispatcher asks, “What do you mean, there’s a guy with a gun?”
“Yes, he just pointed a gun at me and they’re still here,” Alessandra Pino said.
She later said, “My mom’s here. They might have shot her.”
According to the FBI, Sergio Pino hired teams of hitmen to try and murder his wife. Authorities said the likely motive sprung from Tatiana Pino wanting more money from a contentious divorce proceeding than her husband was willing to give.
Investigators say Sergio Pino would then call on Fausto Villar, who once performed roofing work for the South Florida real estate mogul, to help set in motion a murder-for-hire plot.
Villar is one of nine arrested in connection to the scheme, which investigators say included poisoning, a hit-and-run, and an attempted shooting — all with Tatiana Pino as the target.
The FBI says one of those arrested, a man named Vernon Green, was the gunman who showed up at her door.
Alessandra Pino is heard describing him in the 911 recording as wearing a mask.
