Hollywood assisted living facility evacuated due to air conditioning problems

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – It was a very concerning situation at a Broward County assisted living facility as residents were evacuated Tuesday due to the air conditioning system being broken.

Local 10 News’ cameras were rolling as Hollywood Fire Rescue responded to the Presidential Place facility located on South Circle Drive.

One after another, residents were evacuated from the facility on the hot summer afternoon as crews rushed to bring in multiple portable AC units.

Police told Local 10 News that the facility has been having issues with their air conditioning system for days.

A spokesperson for the facility told Local 10: “Presidential Place experienced some challenges with our HVAC system due to a recent power outage. We quickly engaged our HVAC company and are happy to share our main AC Unit is now up and running.”

Of course, this is very alarming when you consider the history in Hollywood.

Back in 2017, at another facility, the AC went down after a power outage following Hurricane Irma that led to multiple deaths.

This time, the situation appears to be back under control.
