Bodycam video shows arrest of man accused of raping woman rollerblading in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police released body camera footage Tuesday showing the arrest of a man who they said is accused of raping a woman while she was rollerblading in Miami Beach last week.

Surveillance video shows 31-year-old Keith Hill Jr. being detained by Hollywood police on the beach days after the alleged attack that occurred last Tuesday, according to investigators.

Police confirmed during Hill’s arrest, he provided officers with a false name.

“We immediately notified Miami Beach and let them know that we had the suspect in custody,” said Christian Lata, a spokesperson with the Hollywood Police Department.

Detectives say Hill attacked the victim at around 1 a.m., dragging her into the bushes off the beach walk.

Investigators said the attack was captured on camera, and police used still images to issue a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) to surrounding agencies.

Authorities said Sunny Isles police recognized Hill from a previous encounter at a local park the day before the alleged attack, and Hollywood officers later spotted him on the beach.

Hill, who is a registered sex offender who recently moved from Illinois, is being held at the Broward County Jail and is expected to be extradited to a Miami-Dade County jail. He has refused to appear in bond court as of Tuesday.

The public Illinois database of sex offenders shows Hill, of Freeport, also known as Eric Lavaly, was convicted in Stephenson County nearly a decade ago, and he “has failed to maintain accurate registration records.”

According to his profile, Hill was 21 years old when he was convicted of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16. He was also convicted of a violation of the sex offender registration.

He is expected to face additional charges for the latest crime.
