PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor, a Hall of Famer who is a registered sex offender, told a Pembroke Pines police officer that he couldn’t go home because of an active restraining order, records show.

According to the Pembroke Pines Police Department’s incident report, Officer Jesus Pinzon conducted an investigation and concluded the 65-year-old retired NFL linebacker had not lived there for years.

Pinzon reported having a face-to-face meeting with Taylor on July 3, at the Grand Palms Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, at 110 Grand Palms Drive, in Pembroke Pines.

“He was currently staying at the Grand Palms Resort for the past several days with his girlfriend because his spouse obtained a restraining order against him,” Pinzon wrote, according to the report.

Records show the two-time Super Bowl champion who was born in Virginia has been married to Lynette Taylor, his third wife, since 2007 and the two have a history of domestic violence.

In 2009, Taylor was arrested for a hit-and-run crash. He has been a registered sex offender since March 22, 2011, after a conviction for sex crimes related to a 16-year-old girl in Rockland, New York.

In 2017, Taylor was arrested for a DUI after he crashed into a parked police car. His registered status with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement requires him to report any changes to his place of residence.

In 2021, Taylor had a similar case when he blamed his relationship problems for not reporting a change of residence. Pinzon alleged this was his second violation.

“Taylor advised that he was served with the restraining order the previous week and that he was not able to be within 500 feet of his residence,” Pinzon wrote.

Pinzon believes his stay away from home was not days but years. According to his report, there was a domestic violence incident involving Taylor’s wife and girlfriend on Feb. 29 at the house.

A police-body-worn camera recording shows Taylor told a police officer who responded on Feb. 29 that he was just there to drop off a check and had been living with his girlfriend for over two years.

In the video, according to Pinzon, a Pembroke Pines police officer said, “Do you live at the house?” Taylor said, “No!” and told him he was staying at the Grand Palms.

According to the report, a police-body-worn camera recording also shows Taylor’s wife told a police officer on May 15 that her “estranged husband” was staying at the Grand Palms with his mistress.

Taylor’s wife allegedly told Pinzon on July 5 she had changed the house’s locks on June 15 and he had not lived there for about three years. A judge issued an arrest warrant on July 8.

Records show Taylor registered a Palm Beach County address on July 11 and surrendered on July 18 to Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender, a third-degree felony. He pleaded not guilty and was released without bond.
