DORAL, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol released videos on Friday showing the arrest of a police officer with the Doral Police Department for allegedly driving under the influence on May 20 in Monroe County.
According to the arrest report, an FHP trooper noticed Johann Delgado in a black pickup truck towing a jet ski with a trailer that did not have lights at about 8:25 p.m., in Key Largo.
“I am with the Hialeah Police Department just so you know,” Delgado, 36, told the FHP trooper during a traffic stop, according to the report.
Delgado had been driving along U.S.-1, at mile marker 105, before the trooper reported noticing he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes” and was “slurring some of his words,” smelled of “an alcoholic beverage,” and was “unsteady on his feet and swayed.”
Troopers concluded Delgado had failed the field sobriety exercises, and there was a woman with him who said he had been drinking earlier in the day. When he complained of chest pain, fire rescue personnel took him to Mariners Hospital and troopers later took him to the Plantation Detention Facility on May 21, in Plantation Key.
Delgado faced a DUI, improper tag display, and failure to exhibit his driver’s license upon request.
