Lawrence Taylor accused of violating terms as registered sex offender

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Lawrence Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who has been a registered sex offender since 2011, was released from Broward County jail on Thursday.

Taylor, 65, who was accused of victimizing a 16-year-old girl in Rockland, New York, surrendered to Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday.

Taylor, formerly with the New York Giants, was accused of failing to report his place of residence. According to Attorney Mark Eiglarsh, Taylor’s attorney, the warrant was over “a significant misunderstanding.”

According to The Florida Department of Law Enforcement database, Taylor submitted a permanent address in Broward County on July 8 and a temporary address in Palm Beach County on July 10. His last photograph on file was on Sept. 22.

TMZ reported the arrest on Thursday morning.
