Dirty Dining: South Florida mall pizzeria ordered shut and fails re-inspections

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A state inspector was at the Coral Square Mall Monday and ordered Sbarro shut due to a roach issue.

Records show the Inspector has been back several times and as of Wednesday, Sbarro has been allowed to re-open.

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed 1 roach next to hand sink in front counter area. 4 roaches in back prep area, on floor next to drain. 2 roaches on floor next to office area.”

“Dead roaches on premises. 1 dead roach in front of walk in cooler 2 dead roaches under table behind bulk room container in prep area.”

“Stop Sale issued on them/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse.”

“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. cold table; pasta salad (54F - Cold Holding); garbanzo bean salad w/ cut tomatoes (50F - Cold Holding); cucumber tomato salad (51F - Cold Holding). Operator unable to determine how long food has been in unit. See stop sale.”

“Food manager certification expired.”

“Required employee training expired for all employees.”
