MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police officers in Broward County are investigating an armed robbery that occurred outside of a popular restaurant.
According to authorities, two victims were robbed at gunpoint while leaving the Flanigan’s restaurant on Miramar Parkway and Red Road.
“I’m surprised, that’s unfortunate, a lot of people eat here with their families,” said customer Venesha Carter. “It’s always busy, even at night time.”
The frightening incident happened early last Thursday morning just before 1 a.m. when the restaurant normally closes.
Police said two robbers took some of the victims’ belongings before those victims then shot at them, with the suspects returning fire.
“Every time I’ve ever come here, I’ve never seen any form of issue,” said customer Christopher Marrero.
No injuries have been reported, and the suspects are still on the run.
“An innocent person could have gotten hurt that had nothing to do with it,” said Carter, who frequents the restaurant. “Maybe they need to get a security person out here to monitor.”
The restaurant is newer, opening just last year.
Local 10 News reached out to Flanigan’s but has not received a response as of the time of this story’s publishing.
“Everybody comes here to have a good time, we don’t want nothing unfortunate to happen to anybody,” said Carter.
Anyone with information is urged to call Miramar police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
