According to an arrest report, Maurice Antwan Williams, 40, of Miami, first got into an argument with White on July 9, which led to White poking Williams in the forehead.

Police said Williams then hit White and co-workers separated both men and Williams was ordered to leave the job site by his supervisor.

Police said Williams came back on Monday morning. They said White’s supervisor told White to go home for the day and White began walking to his vehicle which was parked along a dirt road.

Co-workers told detectives they saw Williams sprint to his vehicle, fumble around in the driver’s section, then run towards where White was last seen walking. Moments later, they heard “several rapid gunshots,” according to police.

Williams was then seen walking back to his vehicle, stating he would wait for police.

In speaking with detectives, Williams claimed White approached him, struck him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to his knees, and then placed him in a chokehold, according to the report.

Sky 10 flew over the scene where the man’s body was covered by a yellow tarp next to a white car.

Police said the victim was transported to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Jail records show Williams is facing one count of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

As of Tuesday, he remains at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond has not yet been determined.
