Bold crook caught on camera stealing expensive tech from Dania Beach boating business

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Police are searching for a thief who got away with some very expensive boating equipment.

Surveillance video captured at Just Catamarans, located at a marina near Dania Beach Boulevard, showed the crook in action on Friday.

Laurent Facchin, the service manager at Just Catamarans, told Local 10 News that what the criminal took was $ 16,000 worth of boating tech.

Facchin said he was about to install one of them on a catamaran when he saw it was missing.

The bold cook is seen on camera going in different directions, trying to avoid employees.

It seems every summer, we hear of more and more similar cases involving pricey boating gear.

Private boats are targeted for their GPS systems, like one in Deerfield Beach that led to a boating theft crime ring broken up across the state.

Just Catamarans is adding gates and additional security after this latest case and the Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Employees are also following some pretty interesting leads themselves.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
