2-year-old hurt in drive-by shooting that killed his mother returns home

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A child who was injured in a fatal drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale has returned home.

Two-year-old Diego Henry’s mother, Tierra Holiday, was killed in the shooting, which occurred July 8 outside of a convenience store in the 700 block of Northwest 10th Terrace.

The boy’s father is just grateful that he survived.

“Just unbelievable that he is here,” said Deangelo Henry. “Thank God he made it.”

When Diego was first injured, family members were seriously concerned.

The family says Diego was in a medically induced coma. He’s had several surgeries and has a scar on his head.

He has not been told that his mother died, but the family says deep down, he can feel she is not there.

They pray for his continued recovery and they make a promise that he will always know and remember his mom.

A GoFundMe was created to help with the funeral and other expenses the family incurred as a result of the tragedy, and it can be found by clicking here.
