1 dead, 1 arrested after shooting in Opa-locka

OPA LOCKA, Fla. – A fatal shooting occurred Monday morning in Opa-locka, resulting in the death of a man and the arrest of another, authorities confirmed.

Opa-locka police said officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Northwest 129th Street after two men were fighting.

Police said that one of the men involved in the altercation had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Sky 10 flew over the scene where the man’s body was covered by a yellow tarp next to a white car.

Authorities confirmed the suspect and the gun involved in the shooting were taken into custody.

Detectives have not disclosed the age or identities of the victim and shooter at this time.

A motive for the shooting and the reason for the altercation between the men remain unclear.

Miami-Dade police have now taken over the investigation.
