FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Video shows the arrest of a man suspected of stabbing a woman in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.
A man who gave police the alias “Onorio Guinac-Ramos” is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He’s accused of stabbing the woman with a machete at a home in the area of Southwest 26th Street and 12th Terrace in Fort Lauderdale’s Edgewood neighborhood.
Police described it as a domestic situation; his relationship to the woman was unknown as of Friday.
She was in critical condition as of Friday morning and required multiple surgeries.
Authorities said during the second surgery, a 3 to 4 inch blade was found in her chest.
Police located the handle of that object inside the home during a search warrant execution.
Authorities said Guinac-Ramos is a Guatemalan national with no ties to the area and investigators did not yet know his real name.
He remained held without bond in the Broward Main Jail as of Friday evening.
