FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – SWAT officers responded to a strip mall in Fort Lauderdale after police said they received reports of a shooting Thursday afternoon.
According to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, it happened around noon near the 3300 block of West Commercial Boulevard.
Adamson said police officers found evidence that a shooting occurred but have not located any victims at this time.
Sky 10 flew over the scene just after 12:15 p.m. where SWAT officers and Fort Lauderdale police were canvassing the area outside of a tattoo and beauty shop.
Officers and SWAT teams surrounded the strip mall, breaking the front glass of a store where a person was reportedly holed up, according to residents.
A Local 10 News crew was right outside the strip mall when a loud bang was heard shortly before police began clearing the scene.
Police said the scene is “no longer active and the flow of traffic on Broward Boulevard is returning to normal.”
No other details about the incident were immediately released.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the FLPD at 954-828-5700.
