Police swarm stolen car riddled with bullets in residential Hollywood neighborhood

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A silver Hyundai riddled with bullets came to a sudden stop along a residential road in Hollywood on Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses said inside that vehicle were a group of teens who gave obvious signs that they were up to no good.

“I heard them say, ‘The car is stolen, we need to get out of the car before the police get here,’ but they just stood there anyways,” a witness told Local 10 News’ Terrell Forney.

Police swarmed the block on Thomas Street near North 57th Terrace, and officers noticed something else.

That same silver Hyundai had government-issued license plates.

“Upon further investigation, it was revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Pembroke Pines,” said Hollywood Police Detective Danielly De Andrade. “No government employees were involved in this incident.”

The car was eventually towed away.

Police said at least one of the people inside the car was struck by a bullet.

Investigators believe the gunfire came from outside of the vehicle.

“The passenger, I think he got shot in the arm,” said witness Steven Barias. “He was holding it and they put him in the ambulance.”
