Homestead police seek man who exposed himself, tried to grab girl at apartment complex

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Homestead police released a sketch Tuesday of a man who they said exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl before trying to grab her.

According to authorities, the incident occurred May 31 in the area of the Phoenix Apartments, located in the 1500 block of Northeast Eighth Street.

Police said the victim was walking across the parking lot to place garbage in the dumpster when she spotted a man in a vehicle.

Police described the man as a Black male with a dark complexion, who had short hair and was between the ages of 40 and 50. Authorities said he was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighed between 150 to 175 pounds.

According to police, after the girl spotted the man, he got out of his vehicle with his pants unbuttoned and his “private parts” exposed.

The victim told police that he then began walking toward her and reached out to grab her, but she pulled back and ran toward the playground area to hide.

The victim said after a few minutes, the man drove off in the older model, four-door sedan, possibly a cream or beige-colored Toyota.

He was last seen driving west on Northeast Eighth Street, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call the Homestead Police Department.

“The community’s assistance has been invaluable in solving many cases in the past, and we rely on your support once again to help us bring this suspect to justice,” a news release from the police department stated. “Your vigilance and cooperation can make a significant difference in maintaining the safety and security of our neighborhoods.”
